A stunning William IV silver-gilt castle top vinaigrette. Of rectangular form, with applied scroll rims and engine turned decoration.  The cover of this fine vinaigrette is embellished with a scene of Newstead Abbey home of Lord Byron, in high relief.  With vacant cartouche, the pierced grill decorated with foliate detail, and fitted with suspension ring.  Made by Silversmiths  Taylor and Perry and assayed in  Birmingham 1836. length approx 5cm x 3cm x 1.5cm, weight 1.1oz.
 The original gilding is in good condition with light wear commensurate with age, and the decoration is very sharp and still very well defined.  The vinaigrette in overall very good condition.
Full hallmarks struck to the interior and part hallmarks to the underside of the grille are all very clear.
